Sean Smith, 10th Expeditionary Aeromedical Evacuation Flight aeromedical evacuation operations team officer in charge, gives a briefing to medical professionals from the German air force onboard a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III aircraft inside a COVID-19 Transport Isolation System at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, June 4, 2020. The medical professionals toured the 10th EAEF facilities and equipment to evaluate the differences between the German and U.S. Air Force systems of transporting infectious patients. The TIS is an infectious disease containment unit designed to minimize contamination risk to aircrew and medical attendants, while allowing in-flight medical care for patients afflicted by a disease like COVID-19.
