Aleira Artis, a military child at Camp Hanes in King N.C., reads a letter to soldiers that she wrote on Military Day, July 11. The week-long camp included the Military Day where children were exposed to different aspects of military life such as, camouflage face paint, physical training and a static vehicle display. The children also wrote supportive letters to veterans and drew pictures that will become parts of a larger mural as a part of Project S.N.A.P. and the Operation Grateful Nation Mosaic Mural project. In Aleira's letter she thanked the soldiers present, members of the 108th Training Command, the 208th Army Band and the 81st Regional Support Command, as well as promising to become a soldier herself when she grows up.
