The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is working in partnership with the local, state, and federal response to Hurricane Sally. A Jackson County inmate agitates the sand bagging machine to help loosen wet sand. Inmates assist with bagging operations inmates filled approximately 1500 bags with sand. Under Public Law 84-99 (Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies), USACE provides disaster preparedness services and advanced planning measures designed to reduce the amount of damage caused by an impending disaster.
