In September 2020, CBP personnel at the JFK International Mail Facility seized a shipment from China containing suspected counterfeit handbags. The handbags were seized as part of Operation Mega Flex, a CBP-led, interagency initiative to identify and interdict illicit shipments in the international mail and express consignment environments through period enhanced inspections. Mega Flex seizures have included counterfeit goods, illegal narcotics, fake identity documents, prohibited plant and animal products, and other items that threaten the health and safety of consumers, undermine the competitiveness of U.S. businesses, and put U.S. agriculture and the environment at risk.
