In September 2020, CBP personnel at the San Francisco International Mail Facility seized 108 grams of Zolpidem tablets, a Schedule IV controlled substance, in a parcel from China. The tablets were seized as part of Operation Mega Flex, a CBP-led, interagency initiative to identify and interdict illicit shipments in the international mail and express consignment environments through period enhanced inspections. Mega Flex seizures have included counterfeit goods, illegal narcotics, fake identity documents, prohibited plant and animal products, and other items that threaten the health and safety of consumers, undermine the competitiveness of U.S. businesses, and put U.S. agriculture and the environment at risk.
