FARALLON DE MEDINILLA (Sept. 27, 2020) A CH-53 with Marine Medium tiltrotor Squadron 262 (Reinforced), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), transports ammunition to mortars in support of a Tactical Air Control Party, after taking off from amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). A TACP is a small group of Marines who specialize in incorporating air assets into the ground battlespace by coordinating for air strikes or other air assaults. America, flagship of Expeditionary Strike Group 7, along with the 31st MEU, is operating in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
