U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Michael Pierce, an infantry rifleman with 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, attached to 3rd Marine Division, fires his M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle (IAR) during the IAR Transition Course of Fire exercise at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Oct. 4, 2020. The tactical small unit leaders course provided an opportunity for noncommissioned officers to increase their proficiency as leaders while increasing their mental and physical toughness in the harsh jungle environment.
