An abandoned Quonset hut sits in a grove of trees on Annette Island. Metal roofs and wood floors were stripped from similar facilities to repurpose, but the structures were abandoned. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District and Metlakatla Indian Community are working to remove similar Quonset huts from two sites this year under the Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program.
