Removed pipeline sits in a pile waiting to be removed from Annette Island as part of cleanup effort accomplished by the Metlakatla Indian Community under the Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program. Items removed as part of the cleanup are staged until a barge can take them to be recycled at another location. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers – Alaska District administers the contract under the Native American Lands Environmental Mitigation Program to clean up military debris on native land.
