JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – A Green Beret with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) fires his weapon during the stress shoot phase of the Menton Week team competition at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Dec. 9, 2020. Menton Week is an annual remembrance of the deactivation of the First Special Service Force during World War II, which is considered a predecessor to modern U.S. Army Special Forces. This year there are six teams competing from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalions, Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), and 97th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne).
