Green Berets with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) ruck march for time during the Menton Team Competition at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., Dec. 8. 1st SFG (A) holds this competition each year during Menton Week to celebrate the Special Forces heritage, as its predecessor was the First Special Service Force, which disbanded in Menton, France at the end of World War II on Dec. 5, 1944. This year there are six teams competing from 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Battalions, Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), and 97th Civil Affairs Battalion (Airborne).
