Lance Cpl. Nicholas Nelson, motor transportation mechanic, Maintenance Detachment, Combat Logistics Battalion 15, 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, tightens a chain to secure a high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle on jacks to the deck of the USS Rushmore, Aug. 17. Marines aboard the ship were conducting preventative maintenance on all of the vehicles to ensure they were in operational condition. The 15th MEU is embarked as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group during Certification Exercise, their final training before their deployment this fall. Nelson, 20, is from Litchfield, Tenn.
