U.S. Marine Corps Capt. Jon Von Seggern, a weapons systems officer from Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 225 (VMFA(AW)), executes a pre-flight checklist in the cockpit of his F/A-18D Hornet on Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, Sept. 12, in support of Valiant Shield 2012. Valiant Shield is an ongoing biennial joint-service exercise; this is the fourth iteration of the exercise series. The exercise lasts from Sept. 11 - 19, 2012.
