An F-35A Lightning II fighter jet rudder hinge sits on display in a 5-axis milling machine, April 22, 2021, in the 56th Equipment Maintenance Squadron’s aircraft metals technology section at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. Maintainers carve test hinges from an aluminum bracket while calibrating the milling machine before crafting a real hinge from titanium. The 56th EMS provides safe and reliable aircraft, equipment, munitions and maintenance to ensure Luke AFB can continue to train the world’s greatest fighter pilots.
