JEFFCO AIRTANKER BASE, Colo. -- A C-130 Hercules aircraft from the 153rd Airlift Wing lands after completing its training mission. The 153rd Airlift Wing is in Jefferson County, Colo., conducting annual aerial Wildland Firefighting (WFF) training and certification with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service, using the USDA Forest Service-provided Modular Aerial Fire Fighting System (MAFFS) fixed aboard C-130 Hercules aircraft. Along with Colorado Springs' 302nd Airlift Wing, the units are conducting training drops with potable water over national forests and Bureau of Land Management lands, simulating disbursement of fire retardant.
