Thirteen MARS Task Force veterans took part in the dedication of a MARS Task Force Mountain Artillery Association, the 612th and 613th Field Artillery Battalions (PK) memorial stone in Fort Bragg's U.S. Army Special Operations Command Memorial Plaza, Sept. 14. The Task Force played a key role in capturing the Burma Road from the Japanese during World War II and are often called "mulepackers" for the animals they used to carry supplies through the rugged Burma mountains.
