Maj. Gen. Rich Neely, the Adjutant General of Illinois and Commander of the Illinois National Guard, thanks community partners at the COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Site at Triton College in River Grove, Illinois, during the "graduation ceremony" May 27 hosted by the Cook County Department of Public Health. After administering approximately 60,000 vaccinations, the site closed May 27. While at the site Neely and Command Sgt. Maj. Dena Ballowe, of Litchfield, Illinois, Senior Enlisted Leader of the Illinois National Guard, offered their thanks to members working the sites and presented challenge coins recognizing ILNG members for their efforts. Neely told the troops the ILNG couldn’t work the COVID-19 mission without them, while Ballowe called the Soldiers and Airmen the real heroes in the fight against COVID-19. Since the first mass vaccination site opened Jan. 26, the sites where ILNG members assisted the local health departments have provided 1.75 million vaccinations to residents.
