U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Troy M. Bergquist transfers the guidon to his drill instructor Staff Sgt. John Furphy, a drill instructor with platoon 1007, Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, California, on July 1, 2021. The graduating Marines return the guidon to their drill instructor signifying the end of recruit training. Drill instructors will then march their platoon guidons back to the Recruit Training Regiment headquarters building where they will be stored and awaiting to be utilized for the next platoon. Lance Cpl. Bergquist was the company honor graduate for Alpha Company and was recruited out of Recruiting Sub-Station Fullerton, Recruiting Station Orange County.
