Gunnery Sgt. Kristopher Knight, left, course chief instructor, rewards military working dog Kira after a job-well-done during a training mission. Knight, who has worked with MWDs for 18 years, teaches the teams the complex relationship required to successfully locate improvised explosive devices. The dog and the handler must work as a team to complete their life-saving mission, and the course offers the most realistic environment and situations the teams will be likely to face in combat.
