Military working dog Kira takes a short break from training with her handler, Army Spc. Richard Maliniak, in the shade of a drainage pipe under a roadway. In the heat of the Arizona desert, any shade one can find is a precious commodity. The teams train hard for three weeks, including day and night operations, in preparation for upcoming deployments.
