Hawaii Army National Guard Soldier, Sgt. 1st Class Matthew Mitsui, a Flight Medic with Detachment 1, Golf Company, 1st Battalion, 189th Aviation Regiment, 103rd Troop Command carries kettle bells as part of the sprint-drag-carry (SDC) event during the Army Combat Fitness Test, Waimanalo, Hawaii, April 2, 2021. The SDC measures upper and lower body explosive power, flexibility, and dynamic balance assisting with tasks like a buddy drag, throwing a hand grenade and employing progressive levels of force in man-to-man contact. The six-event readiness assessment, ACFT, is intended to replace the current three-event Army Physical Fitness Test, which has been around since 1980.
