Sgt. Joshua M. Bower, an instructor with Infantry Training Battalion, School of Infantry – East, sits behind an M240B waiting to fire as Sgt. Dane K. Summerfelt, an instructor with ITB, SOI – East, feeds rounds and relays adjustments during an instructor-only class on firing from the defilade aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Sept. 24. Learning to shoot from the defilade teaches Marines how to send rounds down range and impact targets they cannot see from the firing position using a direct-fire M240B machine gun.
