U.S. Air Force Senior Master Sgt. Brandon Miller, of the 177th Intelligence Squadron, sits in a chair at a checkpoint to change socks and shoes as Senior Master Sgt. Scott Flickinger, the 177th Intelligence Squadron superintendent, holds a shade umbrella at the last resting place prior to Miller completing the 107.3-mile version of the Maah Daah Hey Trail ultramarathon in the beautiful badlands of North Dakota Aug. 1, 2021. His SAG team meets him at each checkpoint and provides him with food, liquids and equipment to stay cool and dry between the stages of the race. He is putting on dry socks and shoes at each checkpoint. Shupe accepted Miller's proposal of marriage at the finish line of the race, which Miller completed in 30 hours, 17 minutes.
