Maj. General Joseph J. Heck, the commanding general of the 807th Medical Command (Deployment Support), discusses an Innovative Readiness Training mission, called Walking Shield, with U.S. Military Veterans and community members at the Leech Lake Tribal Veterans Cemetery, in Cass Lake, Minn., on August 10th. The Walking Shield IRT provided badly needed medical care to underserviced Ojibwe and surrounding communities of the Leech Lake Reservation, and also provided valuable training to Army Reserve medical personnel. According to community members, the cemetery is the only First Nations Veterans cemetery in the State of Minnesota.
