Aircrew members assigned to the 22nd Airlift Squadron load gear onto a C-5M Super Galaxy Aug. 21, 2021, at Travis Air Force Base, California. The aircraft transported personnel and equipment in support of the Afghanistan evacuation effort. The U.S. Air Force, in support of the Department of Defense, moved forces into theater to facilitate the safe departure and relocation of U.S. citizens, Special Immigration Visa recipients, and vulnerable Afghan populations from Afghanistan.
