U.S. Army Reserve Capt. Jerry Brooks, 647th Regional Support Group, 416th Theater Engineer Command, Wichita, Kan., top, attempts to break the guard of fellow Soldier Sgt. Brice Morrow during a Modern Army Combatives Level One Basic Combatives Course taught by Area One, 9th Battalion, Army Reserve Career Group counselors at the Lanny J. Wallace Reserve Center in Wichita Sept. 2, 2021. The Soldiers, who received Assistant Instructor certifications, were tested in the Option 3 drill finale after passing Battle Drills 1 and 2. The Option 3 drill gives Soldiers confidence to close with the enemy.
