U.S. Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion (CLB) 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), refuel a 420D Backhoe Loader using a concealed mobile fuel site pump during an engineering field exercise on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Sept. 24, 2021. Marines with CLB-31 conducted an engineering field exercise to maintain proficiency, demonstrate new engineer platoon concepts and capabilities, and explore disaggregated logistical operations as part of a wider 31st MEU initiative. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premier crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
