U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Brandon Nguyen, a field radio operator with Headquarters Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, sets up an AN/TSR-11 Global Broadcast Service Terminal, to transmit satellite data, on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Dec. 14, 2021. Reserve Marines, while supporting Operation Allies Welcome, are maintaining proficiency in their respective occupational specialties to ensure they are always ready to augment and reinforce the Active Component. The Department of Defense, through the U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security, is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghan evacuees at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible.
