Myakka River State Park is one of Florida's largest and most diverse natural areas. As a result, the park is home to a vast array of wildlife, such as the Great Egret. Great Egrets are wading birds; they wade in shallow to hunt fish, frogs and other small aquatic animals. They stand and watch for prey and use their long neck and bill to catch their game. Through the Restoration Coordination and Verification (RECOVER) program, agencies can provide a process for incorporating new science to track the progress of impacted ecosystems and manage water.
