YOKOSUKA, Japan (Jan 27, 2022) Lieutenant Arthur J. Pommersheim serves aboard the Virginia-class fast-attack submarine USS Missouri (SSN 780), homeported at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, as submarine warfare officer. Submarine warfare officers ensure that all systems run smoothly and could be in charge of operating and maintaining the nuclear reactor, driving the vessel, overseeing communications and intelligence equipment, and more. “The most challenging part of the submarine force is how every day is dynamic.
