Indiana National Guardsmen volunteered to support Operation Blizzard Blast to offer support for drivers affected by inclement weather to patrol local highways based at the Gary Armory. The soldiers assisted stranded Hoosiers from their cars and transported them to local hotels to prevent them from being trapped in the snow on the side of the road.
