U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Dylan Wooten, a squad leader with Battalion Landing Team 1/5, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) sits in a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter aboard USS Green Bay (LPD 20), in the Philippine Sea, Feb. 9, 2022. Battalion Landing Team 1/5, 31st MEU conducted a relief in place and transfer of authority with a Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team platoon to secure a simulated U.S. Embassy and assisted in the collection and processing of U.S. citizens during a non-combatant evacuation operation. The 31st MEU is operating aboard the ships of the America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response to defend peace and stability in the Indo–Pacific Region.
