CRYSTAL CITY, VA. (Feb. 16, 2022) - Lt. Gen. Eric Fick, F-35 Joint Program Executive Officer (PEO), shakes hands with the F-35 Dual Capable Aircraft (DCA) Team Material Leader, Lt. Col. Jason W. Shirley; after presenting him with the prestigious Order of Daedalians Colonel Franklin C. Wolfe Weapons System Award for 2020 during a small awards ceremony at the F-35 Joint Program Office headquarters in Arlington, Virginia. The award—a bronze trophy—is presented annually to military or civilian individuals, groups or an organization determined to have contributed the most outstanding weapons system development which operates, in whole or in part, in the aerospace environment. The F-35 DCA Team completed a vital development test campaign a full year ahead of schedule, which earned them this award. This is the second time in recent years that the F-35 Enterprise has been the recipient of the Order of Daedalians’ prestigious Colonel Franklin C. Wolfe Weapons Systems Award, with the F-35C Joint Strike Fighter Wing out of Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, having received the award in 2018. The F-35 Joint Program Office is the Department of Defense's focal point for the 5th generation strike aircraft for the Navy, Air Force, Marines, and our allies. The F-35 is the premier multi-mission, 5th generation weapon system. Its ability to collect, analyze and share data is a force multiplier that enhances all assets in the battle-space: with stealth technology, advanced sensors, weapons capacity, and range. The F-35, which has been operational since July of 2015, is the most lethal, survivable, and interoperable fighter aircraft ever built. (Photo by America Henry-Wingo)
