Martin Austing, executive officer of Apache company, Battalion Landing Team 1/5 (BLT), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), shows Navy sailor MRFN Nicholas Meyers a M27 Infantry Automatic Rifle before conducting a live-fire deck shoot on the USS Ashland (LSD 48) in the Philippine Sea, Mar. 5, 2022. BLT 1/5 conducted a deck shoot with Navy sailors to share knowledge on weapons handling and tactics to maintain maritime readiness. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with
