U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Christian Wade, an infantry squad leader with Battalion Landing Team 1/5 (BLT), 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), scores a Navy sailor’s shot groups after a live-fire deck shoot on the USS Ashland (LSD 48) in the Philippine Sea, Mar. 5, 2022. BLT 1/5 conducted a deck shoot with Navy sailors to share knowledge on weapons handling and tactics to maintain maritime readiness. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the America Amphibious Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners, and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
