JUNEAU, Alaska (March 4, 2022) Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 1 unmanned systems (UMS) operators utilize a Mark 18 Mod 2 Kingfish unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) to acquire and identify inert mine shapes in the Gastineau Channel near Juneau, Alaska, as part of Exercise ARCTIC EDGE 2022 (AE22), March 4, 2022. Navy EOD leverages man-machine teaming to find, fix and finish adversary surface and subsurface threats to the fleet and joint force. AE22 is a biennial defensive exercise for U.S. Northern Command and Canadian Armed Forces designed to demonstrate and exercise our ability to rapidly deploy and operate in the Arctic.
