    11th Armored Cavalry Regiment

    A spur-holding cadre member from 2nd Squadron, 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, briefs General Michael X. Garrett, Commanding General, United States Forces Command, and Command Sergeant Major Todd Sims, FORSCOM Senior Enlisted Advisor, at the weapons proficiency station in the training area of the National Training Center and Fort Irwin, California. A Spur Ride is an opportunity for Soldiers assigned to a cavalry unit to prove their physical toughness, technical expertise, and knowledge of unit history. Once mastered, they earn a set of silver spurs and are officially acknowledged as a spur holder.
