An Echo Air Defense Artillery (Terminal High Altitude Air Defense) Battery soldier out of Guam treats a fracture during the medical lane portion of the first-ever U.S. Army Japan Expert Soldier Badge competition training week, where soldiers refine medical tactics and procedures at Sagami General Depot, Japan April 13.
The grueling competition is spread out over two weeks including a week of candidate training and a week of testing which are designed to identify the most knowledgeable and competent experts in warrior tasks and drills. Training and testing are tough, realistic, and mission-focused.
Soldier combat readiness demonstrates deterrence and response capabilities. Only those who meet the standards by demonstrating combat readiness and proficiency skills will be awarded the coveted ESB.
