A Border Patrol Agent moves to a specially built AlumaPro Rescue Watercraft being used in support of a candidates swim qualification course for U.S. Border Patrol's Search, Trauma and Rescue Unit, also known as BORSTAR, at Lake Elephant Butte State Park in New Mexico, April 14, 2022. The watercraft wears U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection markings. AlumaPro watercraft in use by Border Patrol have been specialized for water-rescue with a rigid aluminum hull, grab-bars on the nose and vertical grab tower. Additionally, a flexible towed rescue board can be seen behind the watercraft. BORSTAR candidates are put through a rigorous course to test their mental and physical stamina, teamwork and decision making under pressure.
