Border Patrol Search, Trauma and Rescue Unit candidate swim qualifications

A Border Patrol Agent dismounts from a specially built AlumaPro Rescue Watercraft as it approaches shore while working in support of a candidates swim qualification course for U.S. Border Patrol's Search, Trauma and Rescue Unit, also known as BORSTAR at Lake Elephant Butte State Park in New Mexico, April 14, 2022. The watercraft wears U.S. Border Patrol and U.S. Customs and Border Protection markings. AlumaPro watercraft in use by Border Patrol have been specialized for water-rescue with a rigid aluminum hull, grab-bars on the nose and vertical grab tower. Additionally, a flexible towed rescue board can be seen behind the watercraft. BORSTAR candidates are put through a rigorous course to test their mental and physical stamina, teamwork and decision making under pressure. BORSTAR is part of U.S. Border Patrol's Special Operations Group headquartered in El Paso, Texas. (U.S. Customs and Border Protection photo by Greg L. Davis)
