220428-N-UF592-1021 YOKOSUKA, Japan (April 28, 2022) Ensign Andrew Gamzon, assigned to the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), carries the Bad Kissengen Torah in the ship’s chapel. The 320-year-old Torah, which survived the destruction of the synagogue it was named after during the Holocaust, has been on loan to Reagan since 2003. Ronald Reagan, the flagship of Carrier Strike Group 5, provides a combat-ready force that protects and defends the United States, and supports alliances, partnerships and collective maritime interests in the Indo-Pacific region.
