Dozens of safety helmets and gloves lay drying after being decontaminated May 9, 2022, at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Area. More than 15 Army units joined a multicomponent homeland emergency exercise named Guardian Response 22 where they helped find and rescue hundreds of victims from the aftermath of a simulated nuclear explosion nearby. The exercise, hosted at the Muscatatuck Urban Training Area, Ind., is designed to boost capabilities, hone their skills at urban search and rescue, and improve readiness of the Army units assigned to the Department of Defense’s Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Response Enterprise.
