Chief Petty Officer Patrick K. McCormick, the senior enlisted leader with the religious ministry team, 1st Marine Division Chaplain’s Office, leads a hike in celebration of the 237th birthday of the U.S. Navy here, Oct. 12, 2012. McCormick, a resident of Temecula, Calif., proposed the idea for the hike, which brought together more than 160 sailors from 1st Marine Division. The U.S. Navy was created on Oct. 13, 1775, by an act of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia.
