Marine Brig. Gen. Timothy C. Hanifen, commanding general of the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), speaks at a ceremony officially opening a newly renovated runway at Camp Taqaddum. For the first time in two years, the airfield is operating at its full capability. In the last three months, a group of Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 worked feverishly to repair unusable parts of the runway. NMCB 1 is deployed to several locations in the Middle East and Afghanistan, providing responsive military construction support to U.S. military operations. NMCB 1 is part of nearly 1,200 Sailors and Marines supporting critical construction efforts in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.
