Kessler (Center), commanding general, 2nd Marine Logistics Group (Forward), stand in front of their troops at a ceremony that officially opened a newly renovated runway at Camp Taqaddum. For the first time in two years, the airfield is operating at its full capability. In the last three months, a group of Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 had been working feverishly to repair unusable parts of the runway. NMCB 1 is deployed to several locations in the Middle East and Afghanistan, providing responsive military construction support to U.S. military operations. NMCB 1 is part of nearly 1,200 Sailors and Marines supporting critical construction efforts in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.
