Marines and Seabees listen as Capt. Hans Probst, commander, 30th Naval Construction Regiment (Forward), speaks at a ceremony officially opening a newly renovated runway at Camp Taqaddum. For the first time in two years, the airfield is operating at its full capability. For the last three months, a group of Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 1 worked feverishly to repair unusable parts of the runway. NMCB 1 is deployed to several locations in the Middle East and Afghanistan, providing responsive military construction support to U.S. military operations. NMCB 1 is part of nearly 1,200 Sailors and Marines supporting critical construction efforts in the Al Anbar province of Iraq.
