The ceremony officially removed Confederate Civil War General Robert E. Lee’s name from the main avenue and renamed it John Warren Avenue in honor of U.S. Army 1st Lt. John E. Warren, Jr., who was a Brooklyn native, Vietnam War veteran, and Medal of Honor recipient.
