U.S. Army Troopers assigned to Killer Troop, Thunder Squadron observe the lakebed below from a hilltop in a remote location of the training area of the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, during a training rotation there May 26, 2022. Killer Troop leadership prepared their troop to defend the area from a large-scale attack by assuming battle positions dug by the engineers of Brawler troop, Regimental Engineer Squadron. This was the last battle of the training, and Troopers used live-ammunition to shoot pop-up targets. (U.S. Army photo by Staff Sgt. Christopher Stewart)
