A volunteer holds one of many ampoules unearthed during the expedition. The ampoule, a hermetically sealed small, rounded glass container, still holds medicine inside, most likely morphine. The medicine would have been part of a stockpile used when the cave was repurposed as a field hospital by the Japanese Imperial Army during the Battle of Okinawa.
