PACIFIC OCEAN (July 8, 2022) – Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 1st Class Mike Strobel sprays freshwater into the propeller of a landing craft, air cushion (LCAC) assigned to Assault Craft Unit (ACU) 5 aboard amphibious assault ship USS Makin Island (LHD 8), July 8. Conducting freshwater washdowns are necessary to prevent corrosion on the craft. Makin Island is currently underway conducting routine operations in U.S. 3rd Fleet.
